Connecting the dots

online meditation flame trees maui

The true desires of your heart and soul stand out with joy when you are open to them.

The yearning is palpable, but so is the sense that all is unfolding as it should.

That is how you can easily tell the real soul-deep wants from the short-term, shallow ones.

What are those shining lights that stand out for you?

Don’t let history speak for you

online meditation

Over time waves have eroded the rock beneath leaving only a narrow, perilous bridge.

Memory can have the same affect; relaying desires from childhood or those placed on us by others.

If they aren’t valid wants today, then they will only continue to erode the true ones.

Do you know the difference between what you want and what you think you should want?

online meditation bamboo

Sometimes knowing what we want can seem as impenetrable as a field of bamboo.
Finding the characteristics each thing has in common with others will often bring more to light.
Perhaps the forest is your true desire and the trees, or bamboo stalks, merely examples.

Can you see the forest?

online meditation bouganvilla

The actual flower of the bougainvillea is small and demure; the flash is to attract attention.

We all seek connection with others in different ways.

But some of us fear being the center of attention; others fear disappearing altogether.

If you look past the fear, what kind of presence in the world do you seek?

Online Meditation

Many orchids are very small and hard to spot in lush tropical surroundings.

The same could be said for our truest dreams and desires – the ones our heart and soul yearn for.

Often we are afraid to voice them because we fear losing the dream.

What is your heart’s desire?

It takes unshakable confidence to withstand gale-force winds while reaching for the sun.

That all starts with a solid foundation from which to grow.

Do you begin to know who you are?

Being In Context

Part of understanding who we are is to understand how we define ourselves.

We exist in a series of communities that add labels: American, Canadian, agnostic, Catholic, youngest, oldest, college-educated, high-school dropout, and so forth

One aspect of looking inward is to look out and see what is reflected back.

What communities help define you?

Plumeria are known by many different names and symbolize different things to many cultures.

You too have probably  gone by many different names; those of childhood and adulthood, friendships and formal situations.

What do you call yourself?

Greeting the Dawn

The journey to meet the dawn above the clouds doesn’t begin on the mountain top.

It starts far below in utter darkness (around 3 a.m.)

Whether you set your alarm or not, the sun will rise.

Can you find the same certainty of faith in yourself?

Beginning

Real, lasting change comes from within.

Looking inward can be like standing at the edge of the jungle…  without  bug repellent.

But there is beauty in the tangled vines. And there is beauty in you.

Are you ready to explore?
